I deliver motivational speeches on an international basis drawing on my experience as an endurance swimmer and the loss of my dad to suicide as a child. I also work as a suicide bereavement consultant specialising in the support for children and young people, and run workshops and training sessions to help shape suicide bereavement support. My Churchill Fellowship focused on how we can best support children and young people after the death of a parent by suicide. I visited projects in Australia, the USA, Denmark and Sweden, and I'm sharing my findings and recommendations with a range of organisations both in the UK and overseas. Since completing my Churchill Fellowship research I've been working in partnership with a number of local authorities to produce training, protocols and resources. I'm on a mission to transform the support for children after the loss of a parent to suicide, and I'm determined that no other child experiences the same lack of support that I did when my dad died in 1985. Through my Churchill Fellowship I've developed a global network of experts in this field and a solid foundation upon which to make a real difference to children bereaved by suicide.
